Lowther Forestry Group Ltd (LFG) successfully installed over 1100m of Environmental Sound Barrier as part of the recent Bay Gateway Project.
As part of the new Bay Gateway Project, which links the Heysham peninsula to junction 34 of the M6, LFG were awarded the contract to deliver a £1m fencing package across the project.
Crucial to the project was the sourcing and installation of 1100m of Environmental Sound Barriers which were used to mitigate the noise from vehicles using the new road and protect the residents of neighboring properties and the Lancaster and Morecambe College.
A combination of 2000mm and 2400mmm high Absorbent Sound Screens were chosen to protect the various properties. Climbing plants have been planted along the length of the screen to further enhance the absorptive properties of the sound barrier and to eventually create a living green wall.
